A response from Dr. Doug Talk: Unfortunately no. Pacemaker is a poor description of the technology. A pace maker is actually an internal automated defibrillator... It monitors the heart and shocks to "reset" when it gets in an abnormal rhythm. It does not "pace the heart" or cause it to beat at a regular time.
I once read that human hearts stop beating as the body gets too cold.
ReplyDeleteCan pacemakers be used to regulate heart function at lower temperatures?
